Tibet – Guangdong – Hong Kong
The style originated from Ah Dha Tuo (阿達陀) who was born about 1426 A.D. (Ming Dynasty) and lived in Tibet and Qinghai region and skillful in horsemanship, seizing and wrestling techniques. He was inspired from watching a combat between the crane and the ape and created rudimentary techniques of the style sometime referred to the Lion’s Roar techniques. In the 1860s, a Tibetan monk Sheng Long (升隆長老) accompanied by his four disciples journeyed to Guangdong province, stayed at Qing Yun Temple, and started teaching to Han Chinese. A few prominent disciples developed from the Tibetan style to three branches: White Crane, Hop Ga, and Lamma. Grand master of the White Crane school Ng Siu Chung (吳肇鍾) learned from two of Sheng Long’s disciples and developed his own school in Hong Kong which flourishes with influential disciples KWONG Bun-Fu ( 鄺本夫) , LUK Chi-fu (陸智夫), and CHAN Hak Fu (陳克夫) who further promote the style to the international community. Our school and instructors are direct lineage of the late Sifu HO Tung Ping (何東炳) via Sifu NGAI Yuk-Tong (倪沃棠) in KWONG’s branch of White Crane.
